Move-In Information
To allow all students, families, and staff to maintain a safe physical distance, the Move-In process this year will look slightly different. Instead of having all students move in on one day, Move-In has been extended over the period of three days: Tuesday, August 11th, Wednesday, August 12th, and Thursday, August 13th. To ensure there are not 4 – 6 students, and their guests, moving into the same suite/apartment at the same time, Residential Living has been intentional with the creation of each student’s Move-In timeslot. Please read through the Check In information provided below an well as the Move Crew and Unloading section. If you have questions and the answers are not provided below, please email us or give us a call at 785-670-1065.
Please note: We strongly encourage that students only bring 2 guests with them on Move-In Day.
Furniture for each resident in each residence hall room includes: a bed, a mattress, a dresser, desk and desk chair. Wireless internet is provided in every room and common living area.

When students arrive to check into their residence hall, they will follow the steps below:
- There will be a blue check-in tent outside each building (Lincoln Hall, Living Learning Center & Washburn Village)
- The blue check-in tents will be located:
· LLC: South circle drive on Jewell Avenue accessed from 21st Street
· Lincoln Hall: South circle drive located on 19th Street accessed from Washburn Avenue
· Village: Parking Lot 7 located on 19th Street accessed from MacVicar Avenue
- The student will check in at the blue tent from their vehicle. When the student pulls up to the tent, they will be greeted by a Resident Assistant and will be asked to provide their Washburn ID card before they receive their move in packet.
- The student will also be asked if they’ve traveled internationally or to a state deemed as high risk for transmitting Covid-19 by the KDHE in the last 14 days. The updated list of locations can be found at https://www.coronavirus.kdheks.gov/175/Travel-Exposure-Related-Isolation-Quaran
Those who have traveled to the following locations need to quarantine for 14 days after arrival in Kansas. This applies to both Kansas residents and those visiting Kansas:www.coronavirus.kdheks.gov
- If the student does mention they’ve traveled to a location that is listed on the KDHE website, they will be directed to speak to a Residential Living Professional Staff member.

- Once the student receives their move in packet, they will have 2 choices and that is to move up all belongings on your own or have assistance from Washburn’s Move Crew. For more information on Move Crew please review the Move Crew section.
Move Crew is a group of Washburn University faculty, staff, and students who volunteer their time and their muscle to help incoming students move into the halls. We have asked all Move Crew volunteers to only help when asked and to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer in between each student who they help move. Additionally, the carts and dollies will be frequently cleaned and disinfected. These are difficult times and you will not hurt anyone’s feelings if you forego Move Crew assistance, because more than just wanting to be here to help move boxes, they are here to Welcome Students!
