Paying your bill on time
For all students, tuition and fee charges must be paid, or a payment plan set up, by the published payment deadline in order to avoid a late fee. It is important to remember that, unlike many institutions, students are not dropped from classes for non-payment. No paper bills are sent, but electronic statements are sent to the Washburn email address of all students with a balance prior to the payment deadline and near the end of each month in the term. Copies of eBills (in PDF format) are available for students and authorized users in WU-View.

- Late fees are charged once per term to students with a balance who are not enrolled in a payment plan.
- Students enrolled in a payment plan may be charged a late installment fee for each installment that is late or not paid in full.
- If you expect to receive financial aid, we encourage you to check to see if it applied to your account before the payment deadline. If you have questions about your aid, contact the Financial Aid Office at 785.670.1151 or financialaid@washburn.edu.
- If you are unsure if your financial aid will apply before the term payment deadline, we encourage you to enroll in the payment plan for the term with the delayed first installment. Then if aid applies and pays off your balance before the first installment is due, we will reverse the setup fee.
- If financial aid is delayed because your FAFSA was not submitted on time, or because other financial aid or admissions requirements were not completed on time, you will be obligated to meet the payment deadline or enroll in a payment plan.
- If financial aid is delayed for reasons beyond your control, the late charge can be waived if you pay any balance not covered by the financial aid by the payment deadline. Please let us know if a late fee is applied while your aid is delayed.
- Payment for any class added after the payment deadline is due upon enrollment. For those enrolled in a payment plan, the remaining installments will recalculate within 24 hours.
- Information for High School CEP Students is available here.
- Washburn does not drop students for non-payment.
- The Business Office may place a “hold” on your account. This could prevent the release of your transcript or diploma and may prevent future enrollment.
- The “hold” will remain until the balance has been paid in full.
- A late fee may be charged. The amount of that fee is determined by the number of credit hours enrolled for Washburn students and is a flat $50 for Washburn Tech students. See the table below for details.
